Make sure that you replace the batteries as needed if you use this type of alarm. Another tip is to put an alarm sticker in your window, even if you do not have one. This will send a message to any person that is thinking about intruding. If budget permits, invest in an alarm system. You can find them in many prices and with many features to suit your budget.
You can also invest in a surveillance system. There are many types available and you can even put a small single camera in your front entrance. These are usually not expensive and you can even find them in stores such as Wal-Mart. If you can afford it, a more sophisticated system is also a good idea. If you cannot fit it in your budget, there are fake surveillance systems that do not actually work, but that give the impression that there are cameras in your property. These are becoming more realistic these days, compared to the cheaply made ones that were made many years ago.
Using common sense and precaution is the best way to keep yourself and your family safe. It does not matter how many security systems you have in place, without safety precautions and common sense they will not be enough.
